www.bar61.com BR: Streatham Hill ?This wonderfully unique tapas restaurant offers something truly special ? from its earthily rustic and enchantingly authentic Spanish setting, its second-to-none friendly service to its mouthwatering cuisine ? no wonder it's a well loved celebrity haunt? ToGo Magazine Originally starting life as an antique shop, this wonderfully unique tapas restaurant has been operating in its current guise since 1989. You are aware that you have entered somewhere special as soon as you step in through the front door. Old posters and signed pictures adorn the walls and authentic, rustic-looking objects that must have been lovingly collected over time, hang from the ceiling. This is a family run restaurant and their attention to detail is obvious. As the owner Metin says ?Bar 61 has three important rules that it strictly adheres to; ambience, service and quality?. The enchanting setting along with occasional live music creates the perfect ambience for either a romantic meal or simply a perfect night out with friends. The service is second-to-none, always with a smile, but also with free bread and olives and no service charge! The quality is in the cooking; Bar 61?s reputation for fresh and delicious dishes is well deserved. Metin?s three rules make Bar 61 a must-visit restaurant, whether you live in the area or not, but you are advised to book ahead. ?Fantastic bar/restaurant, the tapas menu is superb. Lots of bottled beers and unusual spirits? beerintheevening ?This isn?t haute cuisine, but rustic, honest Spanish tapas, and it?s all the better for the lack of pretension? viewlondon "Occasionally, a few of the cast go out to a pub or restaurant, one of the favourites being Bar 61, on Streatham Hill, which has wonderful tapas."
